During that time it was the home of George Bell Timmerman Sr., once associate justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, and George Bell Timmerman Jr., South Carolina governor (1955-1959) and present circuit court judge, born there in 1912. Neglected for many years, the home was purchased by former owners who relocated the home from Anderson to Greenwood and, over several years, the home has once again been revived to the beautiful condition it exists in today. The home now is the feature property of Friendfield Estates, inspired by the 18th century, 3000 acre Friendfield Plantation in the Low Country in Georgetown County.
